15 Dec Twitter ‘Moments’ UK Launch
MOMENT
Yep that’s a ‘moment’ right there………………..on Twitter.
Originally launched in October for US users, the new moments lightening bolt, situated next to notifications, is to help confused Twitter users get information on the best moments in News, Sport and Entertainment.
Twitter ‘Moments’ UK Launch
The Lightning Bolt. Pow!
So all you need to do is look to see if the ‘Lightning bolt’ is flashing on your app. Click into it and you will see a list of stories that are apparently ‘happening right now’.
Twitter explains ‘Moments’:
“The best of Twitter in an instant. If it happens in the world, it happens on Twitter. Go right to the biggest stories in the world, no matter where you are.”
This will prove very popular for breaking news, allowing people to follow the live moments coming in via the platform.
In The Making
For Twitter, this has been in the making for a while and planned for months. With the Twitter ‘Moments’ UK launch, it’s hoped to give a boost to the platforms credibility for live information for 2016.
The UK is officially the first European country for it to be rolled out to, with over 15 million active users alone. It’s hoping to acquire more users to utilise the social media tool. It has recently been suggested that some users find it a little confusing. Moments is to diminish this feeling for users and offer it some simplicity, by being user friendly.
We will report back on the new feature in a couple of months to see how it’s performing. For now, I am going to test it out and see what happens when I select some sporting cycling moments…
